This is my first time participating in Blaugust, which is kind of ironic because I'm not new to the concept of blogging. Hell, I met Belghast because I use to run a blog dedicated to my time playing a Death Knight in World of Warcraft. Lost the WoW interest, kept the friend. (Among others: Hi Jay! Hi Achloryn! Hi Pon! Hi Hestiah! Glad we're all still in contact.) So, here's to a good fucking human that left the world too soon: Baby's First Blaugust.

I guess I should give a little bit of a historical blawging background. Ahem.

I've kept a personal blog since I was 13 back on pitas.com. Anyone else remember that site? *crickets* From there, Xanga was all the rage. I originally joined for my K-Pop friends (first wave hallyu fan, hollerrr) but it ended up blowing up at my high school and some of my real life friends kept blogs too. The good old days of hand coding HTML and making banners in a cracked version of Photoshop, sigh. Eventually, I moved onto LiveJournal. LJ prior to the Russian acquisition was the pinnacle of girlhood and being a confused early twenty-something. I met a group of like-minded young women who lived similarly and we commiserated through our comment sections and the entries that were glimpses into each others lives.

I was an early Twitter adopter soon after leaving a different microblogging site called Plurk. I faithfully hung around until a dumb fucking nazi from South Africa with too much money and no common sense bought Twitter and ruined it. (Now I'm on Bluesky, which was founded by dumb libertarians that have no clue how to read a room but it's a lesser evil.) One of my last posts on Twitter went viral; I laughed my ass off at the entire experience. The official Tumblr Twitter account took offense to me calling Twitter a "hell home" because they're the original hell site. Don't be jelly.

Anyway, that's a lot of words to say that this ain't my first rodeo. So, hi! I'm Heather and I yap too fucking much. I'm 37, married to my high school sweetheart J, and we live in the American Southwest. We have a tabby cat, Claire, who is our spoiled child. My current autistic hyperfocus = aviation and reliving my childhood on Grundo's Cafe.
