Once upon a time, I used to love following the DITL (day in the life) community on LiveJournal. I thought, why not bring that back to my personal blog? So, I took a series of pictures throughout my day.
Good morning!
My husband is already at his job, so I'm making breakfast for one.
I gather some ingredients: cold brew, creamer, eggs, and cottage cheese to mix into my eggs to make protein scrambled eggs.
Not pictured was the apple I sliced for fiber, s&p, the bread I plan to pile eggs, and hot sauce that I drizzed on my open faced egg sandwich.
I made too much food and only ended up eating half of the apple and half of the eggs.
(The entire little egg topped toastie though, yum!
Yellowbird is a great hot sauce brand.)
Next time, I think one egg will be enough!
But breakfast was tasty and I watched one of my comfort YouTubers Annika's Leaf whilst nomming. Her latest vlog was in France!
I leave my mess because I have to put away clean dishes anyway and I go shower.
Brush teef with my 'tism friendly PINK! toothbrush, wash face, and shoot a video for Influenster about a toner I was sent to give my honest opinion on.
The toner is fine, not worth the $40 because you can get a similar style of toner from a K-beauty brand for half the price.
It was gentle enough to not wreck havoc on my face, so I appreciate that.
I made sure to talk about the fact that it's got fragrance because several reviews said it was non-fragranced.
Fragrance (parfume) is in the ingredient list... and you can literally smell it upon application.
People get something for free and say whatever they think will make more free stuff come rolling in, often without trying the product.
Peer review has become so fake.
I tackle the dishes after and the bootleg Dawn Powerwash detaches from the spout and spills all over my sink.
I snap a picture and warn my sister to stick to the name brand refill.
You're not saving money at all if product is easier to waste because the mechanism doesn't fit correctly.
I do most of my wash up in a dishwasher because it's more environmentally friendly AND the washer sterilizes at temperatures that my hands cannot withstand, but there's a few cups we have that are hand wash only.
J comes home for lunch and eats a TV dinner.
We chat about his work day.
When he leaves, Claire looks absolutely despondent on the bed.
She is a daddy's girl, it's precious.
I flat iron my hair because it's my younger brother's 26th birthday and the family is coming together to celebrate at a restaurant.
Claire helps me process the clean laundry.
I give her one of her dad's clean socks to play with until she gets bored.
She has to be distracted or she'll bite clothing drawstrings and/or my hands.
Dish towels take a trip into the dryer with its new vacancy.
I got a cute pink basket to place dirty towels in;
it fits in the cupboard next to the clean dish towels as a new organization tactic.
Our towels are all white, so I like to bleach them to keep them that way.
Our dish towels have pink patterns so when I wash them with the towels, I have to not use bleach.
Separating them makes sense to me!
I play around with some coding and say "hi" to my Bluesky buddies.
I also apply make up because it's a special occasion.
My desk is an Alex from IKEA, so I keep my cosmetics there.
It's a modest collection, I go without most of the time.
I do not like the idea of keeping cosmetics in a bathroom because of germs and moisture.
Finishing touch of lipstick, applied in the bathroom!
I don't love the colour combination, but the lipstick feels nice.
It's Flower Knows Bunny Garden liquid lipstick in "B06 Dollie".
The eyeshadow is Cheeryep (Qianyan) "Embers" palette and the BB Cream is Missha Perfect Cover in "No.13 Bright Beige".
Eyebrow pencil is Hourglass arch in "ash" and the mascara is Judydoll Volume&Curling Duo "01".
I have been really into Chinese cosmetics lately.
Only the Missha and Hourglass aren't C-beauty.
We changed the Karcher stick vaccum battery's charging location to see if it would make a difference whilst J was on lunch.
It did not.
It won't charge past 70.
It was at "69", so I snapped a picture to giggle about with my husband because we're mature adults.
I think we'll have to buy a new battery.
I put my Crocs in sport mode (while Claire supurrvises) because my sister and BIL are on the way to pick me up.
J doesn't feel fantastic, so he's not going to the birthday dinner.
Me and my sister live in the same city, so it's not a big deal for them to swing by and get me.
Unfortunately when they arrive, my BIL's brand new Ford Explorer has a check engine light on and it won't go past 70 on the highway.
The SUV has been at the shop getting worked on more than he's been able to drive it!
I can't say I have any confidence in Ford vehicles...
So, we go back to their house before picking up Mom to swap to my sister's Chevy Silverado.
A butterfly lands in the Silverado to say hi!
Sis says it's our grandma saying happy birthday to our brother,
BIL argues that it was his dad saying hi.
I just enjoy the butterfly, it was beautiful.
I wish I got a picture of it on the steering wheel when it first landed, but I took a picture in my mind's eye instead.
While at my parent's house, I make my rounds saying hi to the animals.
This little lady is Jaina!
She turned 17 this month.
Not pictured are Boo Boo the dog and Grey Guy the cat.
Mom also recieved a Galaga machine from her best friend?!
Just what a hoarder needs...
Hello from the restaurant!
I spend most of the time chatting with my BIL's younger sister, JL.
We are all so proud of her sobriety.
The family orders two "fajitas for four" in chicken and beef.
The meats are tender and the charro beans and refried beans are delicious.
I do not try the rice, not a big fan.
JL orders tableside guacamole and BIL gets two types of queso, regular and hot. (It's yellow queso, not queso blanco.)
Even though we're all full, it's not a birthday without cake!
Mom picked up a chocolate cake with chocolate ganache from Costco and we split it up.
There's plenty of leftovers for my husband, I pack some up.
Everyone yaps in the parking lot, I try my hand at plane spotting because the aircraft were plentiful.
I am not very good at it yet; my phone is also new to me, so I need to find out how to best use its zoom settings without pixelation.
But my husband always says that you can't get to Carnegie Hall without practice!
So I'm grateful for the practice.
The sky is beautiful.
We drop Mom off and run into traffic, so BIL exits and does a less straightforward route.
We're all tired and full, but the yap doesn't stop!
I get home, take off my make up, brush my teeth, and hop into bed.
It was a good day.
