Today has been slow paced and lazy, but honestly, spending hours with my family usually means I have to recharge. I love them all a lot, but we are ALL a lot. We all got fun neurodevelopmental disorders going on. J is generally the "straight guy" because he's neurotypical but he wasn't there.
J ordered a new battery for our Karcher stick vac; it's a VCN 4 Cordless that we got on deep discount. He's half considering purchasing a buy-it-for-life brand of vacuum, like a Miele, and returning the battery. The Karcher has been good to us, much better than the refurbished stick Dyson I once had. Or maybe I'm just happier with it because the Dyson was terrible. It's funny though, I love my Dyson hair drier!
I set up Jaina kitty a profile on my Chewy account and requested her Methimazole prescription. It turns out that we have to mail the physical prescription to their pharmacy, so I'm gonna address an envelope on Sunday when we go visit my parents and have Mom mail it on Monday. Jaina and Boo are under my (maiden) name with Mom as the secondary account holder and the practice won't authorize her as the owner unless I go with her up to the vet and fill out paperwork. I live nowhere near that office now, so we make due with the awkward. The difference in cost between getting the medicine through the vet's office and Chewy is astronomical. It'll be good for my parents because Dad's retiring in July of next year and Mom's already retired.
They're empty nesters now; my brother moved into an apartment a few weeks ago with a roommate. She's a friend from his job who had left the company. They're not those kind of roommates, she's a nice girl who likes girls. (She dodged a tactical nuke with that!) My brother is a mess, so I do wonder if she's someone who likes a project. I need to bake them some cookies since RB told her at dinner how good my triple chocolate cookies are and she said she likes chocolate! He's never been someone with a sweet tooth, so I take it as a huge compliment. I call Mom a lot more now so she doesn't get lonely whilst Dad's off at work.
I'm hoping that also on Sunday, between Dad, CL, and J, someone will figure out why the check engine light won't turn off in the Vibe. Those three have finished replacing parts for every error code AutoZone threw at us, but it remains. She's not quite old enough to not have to do an yearly emissions test, so she has to not have the check engine light on. J said that if they can't figure it out this one last time, it's going in the shop whilst we're on vacation next week.
We can technically afford a car payment and not be hurting for money. Wth both of us having our student loans becoming a monthly expense within the next two months, we'd rather not take on that expense if we absolutely do not have to. If I could find part time employment, sure, it'd be no problem at all. We currently share the Vibe and that's only recently become a problem because he's been having to commute to an assembly plant where he's the only buyer on the account located an hour and a half away 3 times a week for the past two months. If he had his "normal" commute, he could walk to work from our apartment! (It's half the reason we chose this location. I could drop him off when the weather is poorly and have the car to drive to a job.) I haven't had any luck finding employment, just a string of interviews that led nowhere. I paused the job search and have been focusing on domestic duties because of his commute. Taking a rideshare to a retail job wouldn't be financially feasible; rideshares as an expense add up very quickly.)
Jeez, for a nothingburger day, this entry sure got long! I leave you with our dinner: pizza delivery. Yum!
